How to Grow Your Own Edible Garden

Composting Class

Well the class was a success, and we built our first compost Bin, using four pallets, star pickets, chicken wire and pea straw. The pea straw is to insulate the compost heap form heat and cold. We added some material and should see some usefull compost in a couple of weeks.

What to put in a compost

Vegetable Peelings
Vegetable Oil
Lawn Clippings
Non- shiney printed material
Tea bags
Coffee Grounds
Vacumn Bag Dust
Used Potting mix
Egg shells
Wood Ash

Meat and diary products
Large branches
Coloured paper(shiny magazine paper)
Bleached paper
Diseased plant material
Weeds like kikuyu and oxalis
